Student Scholarship Winner

The Institute provides funding for three (3) student scholarships and two (2) professional training grants to be awarded for the 2010 Institute.

Student Scholarships

Student scholarships (2 undergraduate and 1 graduate) are awarded to outstanding students preparing for a career in the park and recreation profession. The scholarship will be a cash award in the amount of $1,000, presented to the respective university for use by the recipient. The Institute provides registration, with room and board, while attending the Southwest Park and Recreation Training Institute.

Applications are mailed to universities within the SWPRTI network States that offer majors for students in Park Administration, Recreation and Park Administration, Landscape Architecture, Recreation with a minor in Park Administration, Horticulture, Natural Resources or other related degree as determined by the Relations and Scholarship Committee.


Professional Training Grants

The professional training grant provides individuals currently working in the Park and Recreational industry the opportunity to attend the Institute at no cost.

The Institute covers the cost of registration, with room and board, for the entire training. In return, each recipient will be assigned to a committee at the Institute for four (4) hours to help out with various duties and other networking opportunities, i.e. registration or CEU verification.
