    TOMA Program - Brag Night

Brag Night is unique to the Southwest Park and Recreation Training Institute.  In the past, it has been an informal evening session designed to allow anyone attending the conference an opportunity to share ideas, programs, and experiences with their peers.  For those deemed the best in their category, they took home the coveted TOMA Award!

This year, the officers, board, and committee members have planned a bit of a change in the presentation method for Brag Night.  We feel that Brag Night is still vital as one of the educational tools of the institute.  Education is why this is institute is one of the most popular in the country.

Any question regarding Brag Night should be directed to the Brag Night Chair, Rick Ewing at or 918-684-6302 x1475.

Would you like to attend Southwest Park and Recreation Institute, but your agency does not have the funding for you to attend?

Are you a student looking for an opportunity to network and explore your interested profession more?

Apply for a Professional Grant or a Student Scholarship!  We would love for you to attend.

    Student Scholarships

Student scholarships are awarded to outstanding undergraduate and graduate students preparing for a career in the park and recreation profession. The scholarships are a cash award of at least $1,000 that are presented to the respective universities in the spring semester for use by the recipient. In addition to the cash award, the Institute provides registration along with room and board for the recipient to attend the Southwest Park and Recreation Training Institute in early February.

The application period begins late September and extends through December 15th. Scholarship applications are transmitted to universities within the eight state region of the SWPRTI network. Included in this network are those universities and colleges that offer majors for students in Parks and Recreation or closely related degree programs.

    Professional Training Grant

For individuals currently working in the Park and Recreation industry, the professional training grant offers the opportunity to attend the Institute at no expense except travel.
The grant covers the cost of registration, with room and board, for the entire Institute training conference. In return, each recipient will be assigned to a committee during the Institute for four (4) hours to help out with various duties and other networking opportunities

    How do you benefit?

Again, we strongly encourage our partners to be full members of the Institute and not just an exhibitor.  This increased interaction provides our partners the opportunity to cultivate more familial relationships with our members (your prospective clients).  Our conference schedule even has a dedicated session for partner / member engagement where partners are able to promote their products, knowledge, services and build relationships with those attending the Institute.  To further maximize partner / member interaction, session break refreshments are provided only in the exhibits area.

Our partnership packages have been designed with partner exposure in mind, and partnership opportunities are limited so as to reduce competition for conference attendees’ time and to give partners greater exposure to our members.  The varying partnership levels provide options for showcasing the value and benefit of your products and services, and partners are provided every opportunity to develop relationships with our members in a fun and relaxed setting.

Please review the partnership levels linked below.  The 2019 SWPRTI Conference Support Committee is excited to offer you these opportunities.  If you should have any questions, please contact us.

    Thank you for your support!
