The inaugural Southwest Park and Recreation Training Institute PPMA (Park Planning and Maintenance Academy) will take place on August 2-4, 2017 in the Denver Metro Area.

GRADUATE / UNDERGRADUATE
The Southwest Parks and Recreation Training Institute is dedicated to the successful academic pursuits of tomorrow’s leaders. It is our pleasure to open the 2016 SWPRTI Scholarship Award season. This year are offering both undergraduate and graduate scholarships in the fields of Park Administration, Recreation and Park Administration, Landscape Architecture, Recreation with a minor in Park Administration, Horticulture, Natural Resources or other related degree as determined by the Relations and Scholarship Committee.
This year’s scholarships will include a 1,000.00 academic scholarship, a trip to the 2017 Southwest Park and Recreation Training Institute and to all educational sessions, and a chance for graduate students to present their work at the conference.
The Professional Training Grant allows professionals in the field of Parks and Recreation to attend the Institute by covering the cost of registration, room and board for the entire conference to be held February 5-8, 2017.

Southwest Park and Recreation Training Institute would like to congratulate the City of Allen Parks & Recreation as the winner for the 2016 National Gold Medal Awards for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management.
We'd also like to congratulate the City of Dallas Parks & Recreation Department as they join the ranks of elite park and recreation agencies across the country by earning national accreditation in the field of parks and recreation. The Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) awarded the Department accreditation, after undergoing a rigorous accreditation process.

Our Annual Mid Year Meeting is set for Friday, June at 9 a.m. at Robbers Cave State Park in Wilburton, Oklahoma. The meeting will be held in the Butterfield Room of the Park Lodge. The Board Meeting is open to everyone.
For anyone arriving on Thursday, we will be eating at Pete's Place in Krebs. Pete's is a wonderful Italian restaurant served family style.
